Police ID Victims In Triple Homicide In East El Paso; Search For Estranged Husband

El Paso Police have identified the three people they say were killed in East El Paso.

They have been identified as 34-year old Marysol Saldivar, 13-year old Cassaundra Holt and 42-year old Eric DeSantiago.

Police were called to do a welfare check at about 6:15 a.m. Thursday at a town home in the 1580 block of Bengal, off of Vista del Sol between Lomaland and Lee Trevino and that is when they found the three victims.

“There are signs of foul play,” El Paso Police spokesman Chris Mears said. “We do believe that all three were murdered.”

According to police officials, CAP detectives have developed probable cause to believe 35-year old Luis Javier Solis-Gonzalez entered the residence and killed his estranged wife Saldivar, his daughter Cassaundra, and Saldivar’s boyfriend DeSantiago before fleeing the scene in Saldivar?s vehicle. Saldivar and Solis-Gonzalez have one child together who was not injured in the attack.

Detectives have secured a warrant for the arrest of Solis-Gonzalez on one count of Capital Murder with a $1.5 million bond. Police said they believe Solis-Gonzalez fled to Mexico where he abandoned Saldivar?s vehicle, which has been recovered by Mexican law enforcement.

ABC-7 spoke with the older sister of victim Eric DeSantiago, who she says leaves behind two teenage daughters of his own. “He was a great dad, very protective of his girls,” said Ruth Portillo, the victim’s sister.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call police at 915-832-4400 or CrimeStoppers at 915-566-TIPS (566-8477).

The triple homicide brings this year’s homicide total in El Paso to 13. There were 16 homicides last year and five in 2010.
