Saturday Rollover Crash In Las Cruces Turns Fatal

A man who was seriously injured in a rollover crash early Saturday morning in west Las Cruces died Wednesday at an El Paso hospital, according to Las Cruces Police traffic investigators.

Joshua Garcia, who turned 29 on Tuesday, was involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash at around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, June 9, near the intersection of Picacho Avenue and Roadrunner Lane .

Garcia was driving a 1997 Ford F-150 pickup northbound on Roadrunner Lane when he apparently ran a stop sign at Picacho and struck an irrigation canal embankment, according to police. The pickup went airborne over the canal, flipped and landed on its roof.

Police said they believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
