Loop 375 Extension Proposal Updated
The Texas Department of Transportation is holding a meeting Wednesday night to show the proposed plans for an extension of Loop 375.
Since ABC-7 last reported on the plans to extend the loop in the winter, TX-DOT engineers altered the scope of the construction, going beyond downtown.
The extension would begin at Racetrack Drive near Sunland Park, NM, and stretch for more than 10 miles to U.S. 54 and Paisano Drive in South El Paso.
The other big change is that local TX-DOT officials expect the new loop to be a toll road. There’s no clear idea of how much the toll would be, but spokeswoman Blanca Del Valle told ABC-7 tolling must be considered because of funding constraints in the state.
Residents are encouraged to attend an open meeting Wednesday evening, where maps detailing the plan, as well as TX-DOT engineers, will be available.
The meeting is scheduled for 4-8 p.m. at the El Paso Natural Gas Conference Center, which is on Wiggins Way on the UTEP campus.
