StormTrack Weather First Alert issued for drop in temps, gusty winds

ABC-7 issued a StormTrack Weather First Alert last night, and it remains in place today until noon.

The First Alert remains in place Saturday due to cooler than usual temperatures and strong winds, as well as continued spotty showers throughout the region.

Winds will pick up to 15-30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph. The strongest winds will be in West El Paso, but East El Paso and Las Cruces will also see windy conditions as well.

The large temperature drop, strong winds, and rainy weather are attributed to the first significant cold front of the season. It dipped in last night, and has brought a cool air mass over the area.

The cold front dropped morning temperatures into the low 60s in El Paso and Las Cruces.

This afternoon, temperatures will only hit the upper 70s and low 80s in the lower terrain.
