El Paso Public Library Joins The Fight Against Hunger

The 14th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Canned Food Drive started Friday and will run through Monday, January 20, 2014.

If you have any overdue books pending, you may want to look through your pantry.

Anyone with outstanding materials or library fines can pay $1 towards the penalty for every can of food or non-perishable food item donated. The El Paso Public Library will allow up to $5 per account, according to officials.

The food collected will be sorted and distributed to organizations serving the less fortunate on Monday, January 20, 2014.

Borderland Residents can donate at the following locations:

-Big 8 Food Stores
-City Hall
-One Stop Shop
-County Courthouse
-El Paso Juvenile Justice Center
-Public Libraries
-Sheriff’s Department Facilities
-Walmart Stores
-Walmart Neighborhood Markets
