Family speaks about El Paso woman’s skiing death at Ski Apache this weekend

Lincoln County New Mexico sheriff’s deputies say an El Paso woman in her early 20s was killed Saturday in a ski accident in Mescalero.

Family members confirm the woman is Jacqueline Caballero, who was on a ski trip with her boyfriend at Ski Apache this weekend.

Caballero’s brother says his sister was skiing fast down the slope when she hit a tree, causing a brain hemorrhage.

Caballero died shortly thereafter with her boyfriend by her side.

An off-duty paramedic was nearby and tried to revive the woman but his attempts were unsuccessful.

“My angel was taken too soon,” Caballero’s mother told ABC-7.
