El Paso ISD to meet with every employee organization, not just one representative
At Tuesday’s El Paso Independent School District’s special meeting, the board said its doing away with having one elected person to represent EPISD employees. Instead they’re inviting the head of every union and organization to the table.
Superintendent Juan Cabrera says this way is more inclusive. But some employee organizations say this un-elected board of managers is taking away an elective process from their employees.
Lucy Clarke of the EL Paso Federation of Teachers said because some of the groups represent administrators, this mean administrators will have a seat on both sides of the table. Clarke fears administrators needs will be heard over the others, including her own teachers.
