El Paso County detention officer arrested after indicted on sexual assault

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies have arrested a detention officer with the sheriff’s office.

Juan Munoz, 35, of Horizon City, had an outstanding felony arrest warrant stemming from an indictment for sexual assault against a victim with whom he had a previous relationship.

Munoz was notified of the arrest warrant and placed under arrest by members of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Section and booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $40,000 bond.

The indictment was the result of a criminal case investigated by the El Paso Police Department.

Pending the results of an administrative investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs, Munoz has been placed on Administrative Leave without pay by Sheriff Richard Wiles.
