El Paso sheriff’s deputy involved in crash

An El Paso sheriff’s deputy was involved in a car crash Friday evening.

The accident happened atthe intersection of Horizon Boulevard and Gretna.The El Paso sheriff’s Office Special Traffic Investigators were called to the scene. Their investigation revealed that the Deputy was traveling westbound at the block of 14800 Horizon Boulevard while he was responding to a call of service just before 8 p.m.

A Nissan Pathfinder driven by Alejandro Acevedo, was traveling east. Acevedo attempted to turn north onto the 100 block of Gretna. He failed to yield the right of way-left turn as he turned his vehicle into the path of the deputy.

The deputy attempted to avoid the accident by swerving to his right, the front end of the his unit struck the Nissan Pathfinder on the passenger side of the vehicle causing the Pathfinder to roll over and came to rest on its passenger side. Both drivers were transported to Del Sol hospital with minor injuries and were released from the Hospital a few hours later.

Alejandro Acevedo was issued a citation for traffic violation.
