Mike Price leads 2015 El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame class

The 2015 class of the El Paso Athletic Hall of Fame has been announced and it will be headed by former UTEP head football coach Mike Price.

We will be streaming the ceremony tonight on our website.

Price is best known for bringing the UTEP program back to life.

He became just one of two coaches to lead the Miners to three bowl games in his nine seasons in El Paso.

And in 2004 he led UTEP to its first-ever ranking in the Associated Press poll, rising as high as 23rd.

Another coach that will be inducted is Jerry Pippins, tennis coach at Coronado who led the school to a state UIL team title.

Those that will be inducted in the athlete category are:

Ruben Dominguez, Austin High School track star who also was on the UTEP cross country national title team.
Paul Pearson, track star at UTEP.
Edmund Stansbury, who played football at Irvin High School, UCLA and in the NFL.

Brian Kanoff, a still photographer for nearly 50 years in El Paso, will be inducted in the media category.

Bob Geske will be inducted in the official category.

The induction will be at Sunland Park Racetrack on April 28.
