“Wicked” backstage

musical wicked is end of the month thousands of people will enjoy the show while it’s in town but you won”t see some of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes. abc-7’s jerry najera got to sit down with wicked’s leading actress about the preps before the show. you’ve probably seen the promos. the broadway musical act “wicked is taking main stage at the plaza theater until the end of the month. if youre lucky and snag some tickets youll be watching a show that has been breaking box office records around the world since its debut in 2003. but what you might not catch is a back stage perspective. i caught up with alyssa fox-wicked’s leading actress. she plays elpheba. fox gives me a run through of a normal day for her-before the show ” do a lot of warm ups” first she fine tune the vocal chords another big part of her preshow routine …strecthing followed by some focus time and then “she come in and paints me” the green so many have come to recognize “it takes about twenty minutes” make up artist jessica painstankinly paints fox for the transformation. the hardest part for the actress is keeping up the energy “i can’t really go out at night and have a lot of fun with my friends you have to live like a nun go home and get a lot of sleep make sure you eat good food or else you’ll fall over on stage because it takes a lot out of you” fo says it’s all worth it — telling the story about two unlikely friends: “i think th relationship has a lot to teach everyone who comes and sees the show i think people get a lot out of it a lot more than they expect because there’s some really great messages built into the show” wicked will be running at the plaza theater through march 31st.
