Founding Children’s board member regrets signing contract

hospital. it was the topic of last night’s abc-7 xtra. county commissioners say u-m-c and taxpayers are owed an explanation from children’s — because they’ve essentially been subsidizing it for the last year. children’s leadership says umc has been oppressive, and bullish — and gunning to take over children’s. on xtra last night — dr. carlos gutierrez — one of children’s founding board members — said the service contracts favored u-m-c — and the first batch was presented just days before children’s opened its doors: “We were told, our children’s hospital board, if we don’t get this thing signed, if we don’t get these things signed, this hospital will not open next week, it’s going to open in one, two, three months.
