Police arrest substitute teacher for allegedly stealing microphones, transmitters from Canutillo High School

El Paso Police have arrested a substitute teacher at Canutillo High School for allegedly stealing items from the school.

The investigation began on March 27 and included the Canutillo Independent School District and the Anthony Texas Police Department.

El Paso Police say the investigation revealed Mario Alvarado allegedly took two microphones and two transmitters that belonged to the school.

Investigators were able to recover the property at an area pawn shop and it was returned to Canutillo High School.

Alvarado has been charged with Theft Over $1,500 – U/$20,000. He was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a Bond of $10,000.
