UPDATE: Sex offender who disappeared from halfway home turns self in

A convicted sex offender who left a halfway home without permission turned himself in Friday morning at the El Paso County Jail.

Cody Gibbs was staying at the El Paso Transitional Living Center located at 1650 Horizon on Tuesday. His last known location was University Medical Center, where he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor.

Gibbs, who was convicted of molesting an 8-year-old girl, now faces charges of parole violation and failure to register as a sex offender.
