BOXING: Former Champ Wins at EP County Coliseum

last night’s event at the el paso county coliseum… the headliner of the night was a bout between former 3 time bantamweight champ joseph agbeko and juanito rubillar… there is the former champ… joseph agbeko … and that is his challenger juanito rubillar from the phillipines… this was a big fight for agbeko… he’s trying to get another title shot and he did what he had to do… agbeko controlled the fight and won by technical knockout in the fourth round… he cut rubillar above his eye and the fight was stopped when the cut got worse and worse… big win for agbeko… the undercard featured several local fighters … that is el paso’s own armando rivas in his first professional fight… that is evan torres from juarez… torres had himself a good night… here… he knocks down rivas … rivas is able to get back up… but not long after… torres knocks him down for good… a little over 1:30 into the fight and evan torres gets the k-o… that’s el paso’s gabriel gutierrez… he was undefeated heading into tonight’s match with dewayne bonds…. bonds and gutierrez put on a decent show for the crowd… in the end… it is bonds who wins by split decision… tim floyd and the miners know a little bit about the ncaa rule changes… the
