UPDATE: Man electrocuted while attempting to steal copper from old ASARCO site

El Paso Police say a man was electrocuted while attempting to steal copper from old ASARCO site Saturday morning.

Police say 53-year old Raymundo Martinez and another man were attempting to steal copper wiring from inside of an electrical building at the job site.

Detectives say Martinez reached between live wires, came into contact with one of the wires and was electrocuted.

Police say Martinez had been stealing wire and other metals from the site for several months and would sell the wire at a local recycling center.
