2 El Pasoans killed in highway crash near Pecos

Two El Pasoans were killed after the truck they were riding in was hit by another vehicle and both ended up in a ditch.

It happened Monday night on Highway U.S. 285, about six miles north of Pecos.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says 36-year-old John Mueller was heading north when he veered into the southbound lanes, crashing into the truck driven by 24-year-old Javier Mayagoitia. Mayagoita had three passengers in his truck.

Those passengers were:

24-year-old Javier Garcia Jr. also died in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
18-year-old Osman Martinez was airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
23-year-old Hugo Martinez was taken to Reeves Medical Center in Pecos where he is said to in stable condition.
