Congressman O’Rourke to give president vote to fast-track trade plan
President Obama is making a final push to garner support for a trade deal that would impact the Borderland.
Congressman Beto O’Rourke’s office confirmed to ABC-7 that he will be voting to give the president authorization to fast-track the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement.
In recent days, O’Rourke stressed this was a major decision for him and the Borderland but he didn’t reveal how he would vote until now.
If Obama gets the green light, which is in question right now, he could start negotiations that open new markets to American companies.
The TPP would expand trade to South America and would include nations that span the Pacific Rim.
