Peter Svarzbein to represent West Side in City Council

Peter Svarzbein won the District 1 runoff and will represent the West Side and Northwest El Paso in City Council .

He beat Al Weisenberger to replace City Rep. Ann Morgan Lilly, who can’t seek re-election due to term limits.

Svarzbein won with 55 percent of the vote — about 430 votes. Of the 4,065 ballots cast, 2,248 went to Svarzbein and 1,817 went to Weisenberger.

Weisenberger said he was disappointed, but said he hoped Svarzbein was, “up to the job.”
