Jesse Gandara Jr. sentenced to probation in most recent conviction

Jesus “Jesse” Gandara Jr. is spending more time in court this month.

Thursday, the former Socorro city representative pled guilty to theft by a public official.

Late last month, jurors convicted Gandara of bribery.

He broke down in tears last month when he learned he would not have to serve prison time and instead serve 10 years probation.

Gandara’s latest conviction involves theft of between $50 and $500. He was accused of getting reimbursed for travel expenses he did not actually incur.

A judge sentenced him to two years probation. Gandara was also ordered to pay $450 in restitution to the City of Socorro.

He will serve the probation concurrently with the other probation sentence.
