Deputies arrest man wanted for attempted murder in Hobbs, N.M.

El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a New Mexico man wanted for attempted murder Monday.

Officers with the Hobbs Police Department warned El Paso authorities that Alonzo Gonzalez, 27, might be in the El Paso area.

Gonzalez was allegedly treated and admitted into University Medical Center under a false name. El Paso deputies spotted his car in the hospital’s garage and were able to track down Gonzalez.

He was charged as a fugitive from justice and was booked into the El Paso County Jail without bond. He faces a count of criminal attempted murder in Hobbs. The alleged Hobbs incident occurred Sunday.
