a multi-vehicle crash over the weekend kills one person and injures several others– also over the weekend— a man is taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound and now el paso police are investigating morning, everyone. good morning! we’re watching a typical monsoonal forecast develop today. this morning conditions are very nice with temps in the 60s and 70s. but as we move through the afternoon it’ll be hot and humid as we see temepratures warm into the mid to upper 90s outside. plus, plenty of moisture at our surface levels. higher up high pressure is still dominating which makes storm development difficult but not impossible. we’ll see scattered chances of showers through the afternoon! details are coming up. now to our top story this morning one man is dead after three vehicles crashed in northeast el paso over the weekend. this happened at the intersection of diana and gateway north just before midnight on saturday. police have identified the victim as 61-year old hilda-gard johndro. investigators say a woman failed to stop at a red light, then hit johndro’s car, causing his car to hit a third vehicle. two people were taken to umc including the passenger in johndro’s car. no word on their condition just yet. el paso police have still not identified the man who was shot over the weekend. el paso police are investigating the shooting that happened in far east el paso. it all came after police responded to a call that a fight broke out on the 23- hundred block of tierra rica. no arrests have been made as of this morning as well. police closed tierra norte at tierra rica while investigators searched for evidence. police say a 27-year old man was taken to del sol medical center with a gunshot wound. no details have been release about his condition a las cruces man accused of killing a fellow inmate has been indicted by a grand jury. according to the las cruces sun news, 34-year old daniel hood has been indicted on charges of first-degree murder and possessing a deadly firearm. he’s accused of killing fellow inmate 42- year old frank pauline in april. pauline was found dead at the southern new mexico correctional facility. investigators say hood confessed to using a rock to kill pauline. pauline was in prison for raping a murdering a woman in hawaii. celebration in new york over the weekend .. after news that escapee david sweat was shot and captured alive by police. “horns honking people cheering residents near the clinton correctional facility where the escape happened, honked horns, cheered and thanked police who searched for sweat and fellow escapee richard matt. “reporter: “did you make thi one yourself?” “yes. reporter: “what does it say?” “thank you la enforcement.” –butted with– “we have been waiting patiently for these men to be caught. so we’re very happy.” –butted with— “these guys all busted butt and feet on the ground and they all deserve recognition. there’s a lot of men going home with sore feet tonight that are gonna relax and everybody gets to enjoy the fourth of july next weekend and not look over their shoulder.” sweat is listed in critical condition at albany medical center .. / and the autopsy results show escaped inmate richard matt died after he was shot three times in the head. the report, conducted at albany medical center, revealed matt had severe skull fractures and brain injuries from the gunshot wounds. he also had bug bites and abrasions, consistent with living in the woods for three weeks. matt was shot and killed friday by a u-s customs and border protection tactical unit member. according to a preliminary investigation, the bullets came from a semi-automatic weapon. this morning, officials in the u-s are sounding a holiday terror warning . after a weekend of attacks in other countries, there are new concerns here at home – for the upcoming 4th of july holiday. abc’s kenneth moton has the latest on this story developing now. / this weekend, the fbi and the department of homeland security sent out a bulletin to 18 thousand law enforcement agencies warning them of a potential threat. this after attacks in france, kuwait and tunisia. sot rep. peter king, new york “there’s great concern. i would say there’s probably more concern now than at any time since september 11th.” friday, a deliveryma beheaded his boss before crashing the delivery van into an american-owned chemical plant in france sparking an explosion. two hours later in kuwait. a suicide bomber attacked a shiite mosque killing 27 and injuring hundreds. tunisia saw the worst of it. a gunman opening fire on tourists at a beach resort. 39 dead. isis claimed responsibility for the attacks in kuwait and tunisia. the terror group launched an unprecedented social media campaign banks will remain closed today and there will restrictions placed on transactions as the country’s financial cris deepens. greece’s prime minister said the bank deposits of the greek people are fully secure, as are the payments of wages and pensions. the decision to close banks comes after the european central bank announced on sunday that it won’t increase the level of emergency credit to help greek banks after bailout negotiations stalled. the greek parliament will hold a referendum on july 5th on whether to accept a bailout deal offered by the country’s international creditors. a 20-year-old woman died today from injuries she sustained in an explosion that hit a water park in taiwan this weekend. the hospital is reporting the young woman suffered burns over ninety percent of her body. this is the first death reported since the incident. officials say saturday’s explosion happened when a flammable powder ignited over a crowd. five people have been questioned in connection americans will travel at least 50 miles or more from home for the holiday weekend – the most since 2007. almost 85 percent of those – or about 35 million –will be driving to their destinations and
