most precious person in your life! as your back-to- school headquarters — good morning el paso finds out what schools and districts are doing to keep your kids safe in all situations. it’s only on abc-seven: nats: the head of the el paso i-s-d’s security department gathered all the campus patrol officers before the start of the school year — to make sure everyone was on the same page. “to ensure that everyone is practicing and preparing for emergency evacuation drills, severe weather, active shooter.” the district now urging parents and students to sign up for the mass text alert system — just text 6-8-4-5-3 and say “yes.” “the text alert gives you rea time emergency alerts as they happen.” nats: in the socorro school district — the principal of mission ridge elementary tells abc-seven — the year-old school itself is designed to funnel visitors to one entrance. “there’s no way someone can com in through the exit doors. they’re locked throughout the day. they can only come in through the front door.” mission ridge also has security cameras — and alarms on the doors. “everybody knows they’r supposed to be exiting through the front door and that alarm goes off immediately.” the spokeswoman for the ysleta school district tells abc-seven — the district has 600 cameras installed on its 63 campus. they are constantly monitored at y-i-s-d’s headquarters to alert campus administrators and security to any suspicious activity. if you’re going to
