Garth Brooks heading to Phoenix in October

Garth Brooks’ zig-zagging tour across North America is bringing him to the Southwest in late October.

The country music legend is set to play two shows – Oct. 23 and 24 – at Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix. The shows are Brooks’ first in Phoenix in 19 years.

With Brooks in the Southwest, could there be a return trip to the El Paso-Las Cruces area for the singer?

Not likely.

Jorge Vasquez, head of UTEP’s Office of Special Events, told ABC-7 that Brooks has a very limited number of dates on this tour and UTEP won’t make it this time around. He said for now, the likelihood of the show happening at the Don Haskins Center is low.

Brooks last performed two sold-out shows at New Mexico State University’s Pan American Center on May 30 and 31 in 1996.

If you’re going to try and get tickets for the Phoenix shows, don’t fret that there’s only two shows because there’s a chance more shows could be added to the Phoenix run.

Several of the cities on the tour started off with two or three dates in each city and more shows were added in the cities – sometimes even two shows on one night.

Tickets for the Phoenix show go on sale at 10 a.m. MST Friday, Sept. 11 through www.ticketmaster.com/garthbrooks or Ticketmaster Express 1-866-448-7849 or 1-800-745-3000. There will be an eight ticket limit and there will be no ticket sales at the venue box office or Ticketmaster outlets on Sept. 11.

Tickets will cost $59.08 plus $4.90 tax, a $4.75 facility fee and a $6.25 service charge for a total of $74.98.
