another deadline for the children’s hospital bankruptcy case. children’s makes a counter- offer. now the ball is in the county’s court. a murder is on the loose this morning. police need help finding whoever shot and killed a man in west el paso. also… why thousands of soldiers, including hundreds from other countries, are here in the borderland this week. a very good morning el paso, las cruces, and juarez. i’m stephanie valle. and i’m hillary floren. good morning, everyone. happy monday! today we’re beginning the morning with most of us in the 60s. these temps have the cool crisp quality of fall in them! however, this afternoon temps move right into the near record range! we’ll see highs in the 90s this afternoon, making it a hot forecast ahead. coming up we’ll track those temps plus we’re going to look at when we should expect winds to pick up, clouds to move back in, and a chance of rain to redevelop! we begin with round the clock coverage… and video you just have to see this morning… why i-10 west at paisano had to be closed a few hours ago. it’s open now… but take a look at that. this is video recorded earlier from our tex-dot traffic cameras. a car went up in flames. you can see the smoke coming from it. this is what it looked like afterward. our round the clock crew was on the scene after fire crews put it out. the good news… nobody was injured and i-10 is open to traffic again. more round the clock coverage from east el paso this morning. another crash on i- 10 west… this one at hawkins, involving three vehicles. this is new video from the scene of the crash. police have been working to clear the scene. traffic is now flowing smoothly. emergency crews tell us nobody had to be taken to the hospital. this morning we are talking about another deadline– university medical center and county commissioners will meet this morning to discuss on a possible solution to save the banckrupt el paso children’s hospital. good morning el paso’s denise olivas is live with the latest…denise? this latest deadline is today at noon– but umc officials and county commissioners are meeting this morning at 8. all of last week we’ve seen offers and counter offers fly back and forth. county judge veronica escobar says this latest round of negotiations is worth the try. judge escobar says she believes their getting closer to a deal than they were just a couple of days ago. this comes after escobar says cihldren’s just recently decided to pursue a different approach. el paso children’s nor university medical center have released details on what exactly is in the term sheets that both hospitals just can’t agree on. county officials say a decision needs to be finalized so umc can set its budget for the upcoming year. umc maintains children’s owes it 100-million dollars in rent and services. if negotiations fail, the two sides will meet in court. police are searching for whoever shot and killed a man outside a westside bar over the weekend. it happened outside pockets billiards on the 4-thousand block of north mesa saturday morning. investigators say the suspect and the 32-year-old victim got into an argument in the parking lot… and that’s when the suspect shot the victim several times before driving away. the victim was taken to the providence hospital in a private vehicle. he later died. if you have any information, contact police. police are also looking into a possible homicide case in the lower valley. investigators say relatives found the 38 year old dead at the valley place apartments. that’s on the 82-hundred block of carpenter drive. investigators say that due to the suspicious nature of the death – crimes against person and the medical examier are both investigating. the woman has yet to be identified. one person is dead after a crash on the eastside sunday morning. the crash happened on trawood and lee trevino around 2-30 a-m. a pick-up truck, a compact car and a motorcycle were involved. all three drivers were taken to the hospital…. one of them, the motocyclist, later died. no names have been released yet. it was a busy weekend for rescue teams in the franklin mountains. a 30- year-old man was rescued yesterday fter he claimed he was chased by coyotes and got lost up in transmountain… crews responded to the 5-thousand block of los pueblos – the man was found unijured. two mountain bikers following another mountain rescue on saturday. rescue crews were called out to chuck heinrich park just after 4 p-m yesterday. they found the two cyclists on hitt park trail within an hour. one of the bikers – a 25-year-old male – was treated on the scene. both were brought down safely in a vehicle. highway 70 between las cruces and alamogordo will have intermittent road closures thorughout the day. so here is what’s going on. there is a massive military exercise happening over the next few days. around 600 paratroopers jumped over white sands missile range sunday. the soldiers are part of the 82nd airborne division from ft. bragg in north carolina. the entire exercise involves over 10,000 people from the us army and air force, including hundreds from nato allies like the united kingdom, italy, and france. the traing scenario has the troops storm space harbor and retake it from hostile forces, played by local troops. “once they seize the airfield as you saw, some c-17’s landed with additional equipment and troops, they will defeat the enemy forces and secure the area so they can proceed south into another objective in ft. bliss.” the training exercise is set to end october 8th. at , here’s a look at how your commute is shaping up this morning. the tx-dot traffic cams at … keep it here for more to come on good morning el paso… pope francis wraps up his historic trip to the u-s with a huge mass, and a meeting with sexual abuse victims and prisoners. and you may have noticed something unusual with the moon last night. but if you missed it… you’re going to have to wait a long time to see it again. but first – stormtrack weather! meteorologist krystal kleihas your complete forecast. krystal… and this is abc-7, where news comes first! it’s the last day of pope francis’s historic
