Panhandler attacks LC female police officer

policewoman in las cruces is recovering tonight after she was beaten while on the job. our new mexico mobile newsroom… ,,, is working the story tonight. police say yesterday morning, 46-year-old timothy ray allison charged at the officer and repeatedly punched her. court documents we got state allison even bit the woman: “he bit her two times on he forearm while he was struggling with her he spit from what i understand multiple times on her face while he was struggling fighting her.” the court documents state the officer was trying to cite allison for panhandling and trespassing at an auto shop at solano and amador. the officer says when allison rushed in her direction, her taser wouldn’t go off. that’s when the officer says allison attacked her and even went for her gun. a las cruces spokesman says the officer has minor cuts and bruises, thanks in part to a passerby pulling the man off of her. timothy ray allison is a registered sex offender in texas. he is believed to be homeless and police say he’s known to beg for money. panhandling is illegal in las cruces, but how big of a problem is it? abc-7’s jamie warren is live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? many businesses in las cruces who experience panhandlers on their property can use a written warning from police to prevent them from returning. :00-:06 :39-:45 pkg 23:03:12 dan he’s a known panhandler and he’s also been criminally trespassed from that property meaning he’s been given a trespass card where he agrees not to be back on that property las cruces police spokesman dan trujillo says any business can ask for a trespass card to give to unwanted visitors, warning them not to be caught on that property again. he says allison returned to a property he’d been told to stay away from and attacked the officer when she tried to arrest him, nichole martinez, director of a las cruces homeless shelter, says for the most part panhandling isn’t a problem in the city. but in order to keep it that way, educating people who pass through their facility is important :39:08:16 gomez some of the ways we think we could be proactive about that with our homeless is to converse with them during our great conversation meetings that we have weekly we’d also be willing to put up a few signs here on our campus just letting them know what the current laws are 23:05:35 dan obviously city council took issue with that and passes an ordinance against it but we still have these incidents once in a while tag las cruces police say its a misdemenor if the panhandler is caught trespassing again. fines are up to the judge jamie, thank you. and again, the policewoman attacked is expected to recover. her name has not been released. it’s almost
