Community Champions: Mayfield teacher is N.M.’s best

from our new mexico mobile newsroom … david morales teaches history at mayfield high school and he’s abc-7’s community champion, sponsored by southwest university he was named new mexico teacher of the year last night during the school board’s meeting. today the school held a assembly in his honor. morales is the third teacher from mayfield to be named state teacher of the year. all 3 worked in the history department. “as teachers we get to see them day in and day out. we get to see some of their struggles and challenges that they overcome…. without them i am an afterthought. ” morales will travel to washington d.c. in april for the national teacher of the year announcement. 22
