New ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ website has El Paso connection

“Star Wars: The Force Awakens” may be the anticipated blockbuster for December, but Hollywood is already thinking ahead to summer’s big films.

The trailer for the new “Independence Day” movie was released over the weekend and “Independence Day: Resurgence” takes place 20 years after the 1996 blockbuster.

That’s the year aliens invaded earth and blew up cities in the original film.

From the new film’s trailer, it looks like humanity has had some time to do some reverse engineering and pick up on the alien technology before they come back.

El Paso gets mentioned on the promotional website for the new movie. When you play the video, it appears that El Paso is the site of where the United States adopts alien weaponry for use by the military.

“Independence Day: Resurgence” arrives in theaters in summer 2016.
