“Prank on a Hobo” video leads to community support of victim

tonight, a las cruces prank has people talking… and abc-seven has the video that’s gone viral it shows a group of young people dumping a soda on a complete stranger. tonight, we are hearing his side of the story. abc-7’s jamie warren is live from our new mexico mobile newsroom. jamie? tony robles is the victim in that video. while he isn’t homeless, he’s lived in las cruces almost his entire life and has very little. we caught up with him today and perhaps surprisingly – he says this mean prank has left him feeling blessed. . :20-:28 :28-:33 it feels good cause they’re helping me you know here we see tony surrounded by new friends, he has new clothes and gifts. his smiling face comes only one day after this video went viral of a car pulling up and the driver throwing a drink in his face. the caption reads “prank on a hobo” :40:36:31 i did nothing wrong i was just walking they said come here want a cigarette i went over there they threw a glass of coke on my face you know :32:05:37 charles miramontes i’ve offered him rides he’s never taken them but i’m glad to see las cruces come together to help him out after showing the video to many in the community, some said they recognize tony who’s normally seen walking along the streets of las cruces. miramontes tells me after sharing that shocking video, support from complete strangers came pouring in- like these generous ones who we happened to find on tony’s porch :38:33:21 it’s devastating to know that there’s actually people put there that just don’t feel anything :42:51:56 this man you known is going to think about this for the rest of his life but he’s going to remember the good that came out of it las cruces police chief jaime montoya tells us his deparment was made aware of the video this morning. he says they’re talking with the people involved and says tony has the option of pressing charges, if he wants to. jamie, thank you for the update.
