City Reps Tired of “Drama” at City Hall

the drama and get down to business city council has more harsh words for city manager tommy gonzalez and for each other! remember gonzalez is on vacation until wednesday. and he had left economic development managing director cary westin in charge. and in case westin wasn’t available for a few hours wednesday, gonzalez left quality of life managing director bryan crowe in charge … but turns out the second choice is illegal – which sparked some verbal sparring by council. abc-7’s maria garcia live with new details: turns out one of the acting city managers gonzalez said could be in charge is not a city employee – which would be a violation of the city charter: 19-27 30-40 1:02-1:13 02:33 why a contractor has been appointed an assitant city manager. i don’t care if it’s for five minutes. i don’t think it’s legal. government watchdog lisa turner pointing out quality of life managing director bryan crowe is employed by smg- a contractor that does work for the city. 33:18 there’s an issue becuase the charter says the active city manager must be an employee of the city and mr. crowe is not an employee of the city 07:47 mr. gonzalez has once again left us very vulnerable 08:35 and i blame mr. gonzalez for putting us there so i don’t want today’s news story of us questioning mr. crowe’s qualificiation but more so this is further indication that we do not have proper leadership in the absence of mr. gonzalez. city rep. cortney niland again expressing frustration with gonzalez but other city reps frustrated with council: 25:36 instead of letting the process run it’s course, we have to make statements as fact repeatedly other than if you say it enough times the public will believe it 21:25 stop all this drama because quite frankly i’m tired of it. 22:10 some of our colleages are not acting like professionals. in the end council replaced crowe with capital improvements director monica lombrana. 10:45 this entire situation has really put us in a very awkward position city reps. claudia ordaz and lily limon voted against appointing lombrana – saying they’d want someone more removed from gonzalez. cortney niland abstained saying she was making a statement against gonzalez for putting the council in that position. maria, keeping us all up to date on a story that develops by the day. thank you./ half of this year’s sun bowl lineup
