Teen sentenced in Alamogordo for high-speed chase back in O

paso to otero county — learned his punishment today. “prosecutor say at one point passenger asked edwin rodriguez to stop during chase, rodriguez allegedly said he could “outrun these fools.” thi happened after the group allegedly carried out a robbery spree at 4 el paso businesses. they have yet to be tried in el paso. rodriguez faced more charges in new mexico than the other four teens. one of them was aggravated assault on a peace officer with a deadly weapon. he pleaded no contest. abc-7’s jamie warren was at the sentencing today for rodriguez in alamogordo — she picks up the story with our new mexico mobile newsroom: while edwin rodriguez gave no emotion here in court, his parents were visibly crying. for the first time we heard from the 15 year olds father who described the toll his sons actions have taken on his family pkg 13:41:23 carlos rodriguez, father of edwin his sisters ones 8, she cries once in a while goes to his room and lays down on his bed a plea to judge waylon counts in court from the 15 year olds father carlos 13:41:38 he likes to work he became el paso golden champion but childrens court attorney ellen jessen painted a much different picture of the teen, who’s face we aren’t showing under instruction of the judge 13:30:13 ellen jessen he was the driver he was the planner and he was the main executioner rodriguezs defense attorney said the teen felt great remorse. she said while he wanted to address the judge he was asked not to because of pending charges in texas. rodriguez was able to walk away with 2 years probation under strict guidelines, but that didn’t stop judge counts from explaining his dissatisfaction 13:47:53 judge waylon counts your behavior was egregious dangerous unexcusible tag since his arrest, rodriguez has been staying in a juvenile facility in gallup nm and will stay there for one more week before being released to his parents. but jessen says within that time he will more then likely be served an arrest warrant for his charges pending in texas. as for the other teens… they still as for the other teens… they still face charges.. 14 year old jaquil webb pleaded guilty to other charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. also waiting to be sentenced are 15 year old evelyn brown … and 14- year-olds antonio brown and isaiah garcia. afterward all 5 could face charges in el paso county. still no word tonight on why a man was on the freeway when he got hit by a semi is afternoon. it happened
