we are standing along washington park on south boone street. this area is still closed off with red tape. i called the central police command center– an officer there telling me they had no information on any arrests. let’s get to our round the clock video. the video new this morning. emergency dispatch confirms two stabbing a– a woman in critical condition and another person taken to las palmas. we saw officers scouring the scene here at washington park. police and and even a fire truck were at the el paso zoo after reports that one of the suspects may have ended up inside trying to get away from officers. that information has not been confirmed by police. at last check officers are no longer there, instead officers focusing their investigation in this area. happening today … county commissioners will discuss the creation of an expanded downtown historic district. downtown currently has a couple dozen historic buildings registered nationally, but some want to expand that with a new historic survey. the initial cost to the county would be about $140-thousand dollars. but with other grant and funding items as part of the deal, advocates say it would be worth it, along with the economic and redevelopment impact it could have on downtown. the el paso county historical comission says the survey won’t force owners to do anything, but will make it easier to get grants for those who want to restore buildings. for many, catching a glimpse of the pope is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. and depending on what city council decides today — many el pasoans may have that chance. city council voted to shut down the border highway starting at 3 a-m february 17th — from downtown to the chamizal. the closure will last a full 24 hours. then at ten that morning… the closure will expand all the way out to yarbrough. it wont reopen until the pope leaves juarez. the city voted to shut down loop 375 from us 54 to santa fe street two weeks ago –because of safety. –but now, they may reconsider. happening today— city representative peter svarsbein tells us during today’s meeting they’ll talk about what steps would need to be taken to alter the city’s original decision. svarsbein says he’s not aware of any additional costs to open up the high way he added that it also may be too short of notice to make changes now. el paso police say if the city allowed access, that would also mean quote “bi changes” in security. continuing our complete coverage of the pope’s visit…. the canutillo school district is set to debate again today if it should close. canutillo’s school board is weighing whether or not to switch president’s day, which is a holiday, with the pal visit. two previous motions failed. initially, the district said schools wouldn’t be affected because there are no road closures within the boundaires of the district. so far yisd, episd, socorro isd and san elizario isd will close for the day. we’ll be sure to keep you updated on air and online at kvia dot com. don’t forget, we also have all your complete coverage of the pope’s visit on our website. everything from all the closures going on that day, to how the choir is preparing for the big day. we’re just 9 days away from the big visit. for more info, visit kvia.com and click on the pope visit banner. tomorrow, voters will head to the polls for the first in the nation primary in new hampshire. the latest polls have republican donald trump and democrat bernie sanders in the lead but their opponents are closing in. abc’s kenneth moton has the details of the final push for votes … it’s your voice, your vote. it’s crunch time?the day before the new hampshire primary. sot bernie sanders: “we need political revolution.” nats coa throw bernie sanders fired up but taking presidential punches from his rival’s husband, former president bill clinton. sot bill clinton: “for her this is not about grand theories of revolution this is about whether we can improve people’s lives.” the former president was in new hampshire while hillary clinton was in flint, michigan taking on the lead contaminated water crisis. sot hillary clinton: “wha happened in flint is immoral” the latest poll out of new hampshire shows clinton closing in on sanders gop frontrunner donald trump maintains a double-digit lead in the state?
