Doa Ana County Sheriff’s Office unveils new deputy uniforms

The Doa Ana County Sheriff’s unveiled new uniforms for its deputies Wednesday.

The uniforms are designed to be more comfortable and functional, according to a news release.

The Class B uniform is made with a lighter material and will be tan and olive green instead of the former uniform, which was was tan and navy blue. It also comes with a tactical vest that is worn on the outside of the shirt.

According to the news release, deputies complained that with the old uniform, the polyester-blend material with the tactical vest worn on the inside of the shirt was uncomfortable in warmer temperatures.

The new uniforms cost approximately $700 per deputy. The old uniform will be considered a Class A uniform to be worn at special functions only.
