ABC-7’s Estela Casas an honoree for Lucy G. Acosta Humanitarian Award

ABC-7 is honored to announce our very own Estela Casas is one of the honorees for tonight’s Lucy G. Acosta Humanitarian Awards.

Acosta was a civil rights activist widely recognized for helping elect Raymond Telles, the first Mexican-American mayor in the Sun City’s history.

The awards ceremony is organized by the League of United Latin American Citizen’s ‘Project Amistad,” a program created by Acosta to help elderly people get to their doctor’s appointment.

Other recipients include Culture Historian Adair Margo; LULAC’s National President, Belen Robles; and Jaime Barceleau with The Paso del Norte Children’s Development Center.

ABC-7 will be streaming the ceremony live on KVIA.com beginning at 7 p.m.
