mildly windy but still much lighter than the previous days. temperatures a bit warmer…no dust and no clouds. another system approaches thursday to bring back another day of strong winds and blowing dust. friday will continue windy and a bit cooler as the system passes and drags a cool front through. it was a big night for the frontrunners in the race for president. republican donald trump and for you tonight, this campaign moves back to more favorable terrain democrat bernie sanders is also looking for better luck out west. he took rhode island tuesday night keeping clinton from a clean sweep but mathematically it appears it will be impossible for him to keep her from the democratic nomination. sot bernie sanders the fight we are waging is not an easy fight but i know you are prepared to wage that fight now it’s on to indiana for the candidates. sanders, cruz and trump are all holding events there today. trump has now won half of the country’s contests with 26 states. kenneth moton, abc news washingtonve here is a look at the delegate count for the nomination. right now hillary has 2,141 of the votes so far while sanders has 1,321. that includes superdelegates. clinton is just 242 delegate votes away from getting the 2,383 need for the nomination. there are still over 11- hundred delgate votes up for grabs. on the republican side, trump has 950 of the votes right now to cruz’s 560. trump is just 287 votes away from the 1,237 delegate votes needed for the nomination. there is still 565 delegate votes up for grabs. former house speaker dennis hastert will be sentenced today for violating federal banking laws. last year, he pleaded guilty to structuring money transactions — to evade reporting where the money was going. prosecutors say he was covering up hush money he was paying to one of his sex abuse victims. federal prosecutors claim — hastert abused at least four boys while he was a high school wrestling coach in illinois. hastert will not be charged with sex abuse because the statute of limitation has expired. but one of his alleged victims is suing him for reportedly not receiving all the money that hastert promised him. belgian prosecutors said this morning that a key paris attacks suspect, salah abdeslam, was handed over to french authorities. abdeslam’s lawyer described him as “falling apart” and ready cooperate. abdeslam’s brother blew himself up in the paris attacks. he is being charged with attempted murder over a march 15 shootout with police in brussels. he was arrested three days later. belgian police have been questioning him about potential links to the three suicide bombers who attacked the brussels airport and subway on march 22, killing 32. also new this morning— the el paso county sheriff’s office is searching for a wanted sex offender. shannon benson left the half-way house in horizon on monday and did not return. benson was arrested for criminal sexual conduct out of the state of michigan. the victim was an 18- year old girl at the time. he is now in violation of his parole. if you have any information of his whereabout you are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 538-2008.. / a las cruces man is in jail this morning after authorities say he exposed himself to children. monday — a teacher and 2 of her students were on the playground at macarthur elementary school. police say the children saw 34- year-old abraham morales urinating. morales lives next to the playground – with only a chainlink fence between them. he claims he was relieving himself outside — because he could not open his door. he’s charged with two counts of aggravated indecent exposure. new this morning– the latest scores from the nation’s report card shows 12-graders have slipped in math. only one-quarter of high school seniors performed at a proficient or advanced level in math. this means that a third of the nation’s high school seniors are prepared for academic challenges of entry level college math. reading scores have not changed, 37 percent were proficient or better. the national assessment of educational progress is given to seniors at both public and private high schools. happening today– fort bliss is hosting a military job fair at the centennial conference center. the event is from 10 am to 2 pm. everyone is welcome – including service men and women and their spouses, dependents, and civilians. there are national and regional job opportunities available – from customer service to law enforcement. it’s 6-07! that means we toss it over to to meteorologist still much lighter than the traffic cams… and abc-7 traffic alert to pass along. franklin avenue is now closed to all eastbound traffic from el paso street to oregon street. oregon has been reduced to one lane in each direction at franklin, as well. if you usually use franklin, you should consider using missouri avenue as an alternate route. this closure is for the streetcar project and is expected to last about four weeks. we also want to let you know — that from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. today — the right lane on i-10 east will be closed between copia and paisano. and the eastbound raynolds exit
