Students and District employee react to Love’s arrest

principal nancy love — is facing two charges. she still works for episd as an assistant principal at jefferson silva health magnet. love is accused of retaliating against a teacher who was speaking to the fbi — by getting a student to make a false allegation against that teacher. love allegedly went as far as testifying before a grand jury. abc-7’s jerry najera is live with that…. part of our continuing coverage of the episd cheating scandal … rick estela federal inictment said she not only went before a grand jury but allegedly lied to them. today i spoke to students from sliva magnet school and a district employee who was very involved in bringing the cheating scandal to light. thursday evening the last school bell rang at silva magnet highschool and students let out. one after another ” was pretty shocked” “i w surprised” “it w shocking” “it was shocki students expressed their surprise seeing their assistant principle nancy love in handcuffs. and every student i spoke with said that despite her “by the book attitude” the liked her. “she was reall involved” “she would reall encourage us” “s made sure we were all taken care of” “she wou go in the classrooms and check if we were ok” court documents reveal love falsley reported to episd police–a student wanted to press charges on a teacher. the documents allege love was trying to get two teachers fired. teachers that were giving the fbi information about the alleged cheating scheme. the documents even describe love going as far as meeting at cabo joes to coach a student on how to press charges. then she allegedly lied to a grand jury about the situation. “i had mixed feelings because im a educator my self” patricia scott is a counselor at jefferson high school she’s also considered by some — to be a hero. scott was the first to step in and question the cheating scheme at bowie high school– orchestrated by former superintendent lorenzo garcia. scott says despite “higher ups” creating cheating schemes–she says it was the students that were cheated out of a education. ” absolutely witnessed students having some kind of a negative affect. they did not know there credits were taken away and in their minds they were all up to date with their credits getting ready for graduation” “it was not necessary the only one that gained anything were the administrators that got the extra money for not having failing schools at the time” on a side note love’s son will be testifying against her in this case. her son is in college but will be coming into town soon. love’s lawyer asked judge yesterday if they would be able to see each other. the judge said they would be able to see each other but not talk about the case. abc-seven is also piecing the story together regarding a
