NMSU’s Daniel Johnson wins national player of the week award

TUCSON, Ariz. – Junior Daniel Johnson has been named Collegiate Baseball/Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week.

A native of Vallejo, Calif., Johnson went 12-for-20 on the week with two doubles, four home runs, eight runs scored and 14 RBI. In the series against Sacramento State, he went 10-for-15 at the plate with two two-run home runs and two three-run home runs. He also added two stolen bases for a league-leading 22 stolen bags on the season.

The Aggies are back in action on Tuesday, as they face against New Mexico in the final game of the Rio Grande Rivalry Series at Presley Askew Field.

He was also named the Western Athletic Hitter of the week – the third time this season he has received that honor.
