Sunland Park Police need help finding alleged sex offender

Authorities are asking the public to be on the lookout for a man charged with sex crimes against a minor, the Dona Ana District Attorney’s office said Tuesday.

Officials said Rafael Quintero, 22, was recently indicted on one count of criminal sexual penetration, a second-degree felony and two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor, both fourth-degree felonies.

According to detectives with the Sunland Park Police Department, a 13-year-old female was sexually molested by Quintero while staying the night at her grandmother’s house on March 29 in Sunland Park, New Mexico.

The victim’s mother told investigators that the Quinteros is from Ciudad Juarez and was here in the United States illegally. The victim’s mother also said Quintero was working at a tire shop in Anthony, Texas.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the 3rd Judicial District Attorney’s Office at 575-524-6370 or Sunland Park Police Department at 575-589-2225.
