— incumbents trying to keep their seats — challengers looking for change. we are tracking a really tight race — and some races for dona ana county commssioners where the incumbents are struggling. but we begin with one of the biggest races of the night — the position of dona ana county district attorney. current d-a mark d’antonio is looking to keep his job. he faced off against democratic challenger james dickens. and d’antonio … looking for a second term is comfortably in the lead. this is with 95- percent of the vote counted. this is a winner takes all — there are no runoffs in new mexico. it’s all but certain d’antonio will face the republican challenger brad cates in november. abc-7’s jamie warren is live from our new mexico mobile newsroom with reaction to the results from this race. jamie? rick and estela, i am here with the incumbent in this race, dona ana county district attorney incumbent mark d’antonio. mr. d’antonio, you are very close to being named the winner tonight. what is something you’d like to improve on in the next 4 years? we also spoke with your opponent james dickens earlier today. here’s what he had to say james dickens sot 15:32:06 i can’t be prouder of this campaign we really focused on the issues of the case we really tried to focus on the cases and especially on the victims and that’s what this whole race needs to be about protecting the victims in the community once again d’antonio is projected to be the winner of this race. once we get the very final results we’ll update them for you online at there are three seats up for election in the dona ana county board
