State of Education Address highlights UTEP’s success

Ethics and leadership are two core values U.T. Chancellor William McRaven believes are key when educating the next generation.

McRaven, the keynote speaker at the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce annual “State of Education Address” has ambitious visions for the University of Texas System.

“It is not about a single institution, it is about improving the state of Texas,” McRaven said. “If you do that, we will all be better, you will be better, your institution will be better if we all collaborate, collaborate, collaborate.”

More than a hundred people attended the address Thursday.

McRaven oversees 14 institutions, including UTEP, which he praised for its strong relationship with our community.

The chancellor mentioned UTEP offers a competitive and affordable degree.

UTEP President Diana Natalicio agreed saying the university “provides an affordable, accessible education but a very high quality so that the graduates can go out and compete with anyone, anywhere, anytime.”
