BP Agents seize 5 pounds of heroin, two women arrested

Two El Paso women appeared before a federal judge in Las Cruces Friday after they were allegedly caught with five pounds of heroin at the Border Patrol checkpoint on I-25 north of Las Cruces.

Elizabeth Ordonez-Ochoa, 36; and Olivia Ceniceros-Favela, 32, were arrested Wednesday.

Agents allegedly found some of the heroin in a pair of shoes Ordonez-Ochoa was wearing and in another pair of shoes under the driver’s seat.

Investigators arrested Ceniceros-Favela after she allegedly tried to pick up Ordenez-Ochoa at a Walmart in Las Cruces.

The women will remain in federal custody pending preliminary hearings.

If convicted, they each face anywhere from 10 years to life in prison, officials said.
