Police charge man allegedly driving 110 mph with reckless driving

Police say a man was going 110 miles per hour in a Ford Mustang on U.S. 54 July 4th.

Officers arrested 20-year-old Estevan Diego Whipple and charged him with reckless driving. He was booked into the county jail on a $3,000 bond.

Whipple was heading south on U.S. 54 shortly before 8 p.m. He was allegedly speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, and tailgating other motorists, according to a police news release. Police said drivers were “forced to take evasive action” to avoid colliding with Whipple’s Mustang.

A police supervisor working with a DWI task force allegedly witnessed Whipple’s actions. The officer was able to pull over and arrest Whipple on I-10 East, just east of the I-10/U.S. 54 interchange.
