The long wait is over: Pebble Hills extension to open Friday morning

The City of El Paso is ready to open an important missing link in Far East El Paso: the extension of Pebble Hills Boulevard from from Tierra Mina Drive to Zaragoza Road.

The intersection of Pebble Hills (west) and Zaragoza will open at noon Friday, July 15, 2016.

The public should expect some lane closures for about a month, city officials said. The lane closures are necessary to finish minor modifications needed to ensure the work meets contract specifications.

This $2.5 million project creates a continuous east-west thoroughfare running from John Hayes Street on the Far East Side to Yarbrough Drive in East El Paso.

It will also give motorists an option to access Loop 375 while avoiding the heavily-congested intersection of Zaragoza and Montwood.
