EPSO: Pallet fire in Montana Vista caused by discarded embers

A pallet fire in Montana Vista was started by discarded embers, said officials with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Friday.

They said deputies were dispatched to the 14000 block of Montana in reference to a fire around 6:05 p.m. Friday.

Upon arrival, deputies observed a stack of pallets and two box trailers fully engulfed.

The El Paso Fire Department, Montana Vista Fire Department, and Horizon City Fire Department extinguished the fire.

Partial damage was also reported to on outdoor loading bay.

One lane of traffic on eastbound Montana was closed from Vista Del Esta to Las Casitas during the investigation.

The lane was later reopened.
