Police: Photos of boy with passed-out adults show drug scourge
An Ohio police department has released a graphic photograph it hopes will drive home the danger of heroin.
You can see a man and woman passed out in the front seat with a young boy is sitting in the back.
An east Liverpool officer says he pulled the couple over because the driver was weaving back and forth.
The driver, James Acord, told the officer he was taking the woman, Rhonda Pasek, to the hospital, but then immediately passed out himself.
The boy in the backseat is Pasek’s 4-year old son, police said,
Several rounds of “narcan,” a drug used to reverse opiate overdose, were administered. Police said both adults gained consciousness and were arrested on several charges including endangering a child.
The boy was turned over to children’s services.
“The poison known as heroin has taken a strong grip on many communities, not just ours. The difference is we are willing to fight this problem until it’s gone and if that means we offend a few people along the way we are prepared to deal with that,” the East Liverpool Police Department said in a statement.
