Police: Man killed 92-year-old mother
The police department’s Crimes Against Persons (CAP) unit has arrested and charged a man with Murder in the death of an elderly woman.
Officers responded to a residence in the 3600 block of Grand Bahamas Dr. Sunday morning to perform a welfare check. When they arrived, the officer found the a person dead inside the residence.
The death of Kapoori Devi, 92, appeared to be suspicious and the officers requested the assistance of the CAP.
An investigation revealed 55-year old Rajeev Gupta killed the woman, his mother.
Police arrested Gupta and charged him with Murder and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $1-million bond.
Police said this is the 16th Murder of 2016 compared to 12 at this same time in 2015.
