El Paso Zoo set to get carousel, online ticketing

There will soon be a new attraction at the El Paso Zoo.

The zoo is adding a 36 foot carousel. Some of the details were revealed at Tuesday’s city council meeting. The attraction is expected to open in the spring of 2018. and will feature endangered species rather than traditional carousel horses. The ride is being made possible by an $800,000 donation from the Hunt family Foundation via the Zoological society. The Hunts also donated the splash pad at the zoo.

ABC-7 is told that the charge to ride the carousel will be comparable to our current train ride of $2 for adults and $1.50 for children (3-12 yrs. The El Paso Zoological Society will also offer naming rights for individual animals.

The zoo also received a donation from the El Paso Zoological Society for software that will allow visitors to buy and reserve tickets online.
