2016 was El Pasos warmest year on record

2016 is now over, but it will be remembered in the weather history book for El Paso for it’s warmth.

ABC-7’s Stephen Decatur took a look at the numbers and 2016 has tied 1994 as our hottest year on record in El Paso.

Here’s a look at the Top 5 years and the average temperature (high & low combined) for each.

2016 – 67.4° 1994 – 67.4° 2012 – 67.1° 2014 – 66.8° 2015 – 66.7°

Spring 2016 was the 9th warmest spring on record in El Paso. While, summer 2016 was the 5th warmest summer on record, and fall 2016 was the warmest fall on record in El Paso.

Temperature records go back to 1887 in El Paso.

In 2016 the coldest temperature was 21° on February 6th, and the warmest was 108° on June 18th and July 14th.

2016 also had the 4th most 100 degree days on record for El Paso.
