Aaron Jones inks deal with Packers, participates in rookie orientation

Former UTEP star running back Aaron Jones has officially signed a deal with the Packers, according to the team’s web site.

Multiple reports indicate that deal is for four years.

Jones also took part in day one of rookie orientation and practice on Friday in Green Bay. He could be seen wearing jersey number “33,” which will be his number in the pros. Jones had previously worn the number “29” as a member of the Miners, and his twitter handle even featured that number.

Coach Mike McCarthy said that the energy from all rookies on Friday was “remarkable.”

Jones was one of three running backs selected by the Packers in the draft, along with Jamaal Williams out of BYU and Devante Mays from Utah State.

Jones ended his career at UTEP as the program’s all-time leading rusher, and set a single-season rushing record with 1,773 yards in his final season as a Miner.
