Police: Motorcyclist killed on Aiport Rd. was speeding, weaving in and out of traffic

Colby Tanner Vogt, of Fort Bliss, has died as a result of the injuries he sustained in a motorcycle wreck on the 6800 block of Airport Road, police said.

The crash happened at 7:45 am Monday June 26, 2017.

Police said the 24-year-old Vogt, riding south on the right lane, was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic.

Vogt collided into the back of a Fiat driven by 68-year-old Rafeeq Haqq, police said. Haqq was not injured in the wreck. Vogt sustained serious injuries despite wearing a helmet.

After Vogt was ejected, the motorcycle slid south on Airport, crossed the median, and collided with a Ford Fusion in the northbound lanes, police said.

The driver of the Fusion, 33-year-old Alexandra Gonzalez, was also seriously injured. Police did not provide an update on her condition.

A Go Fund Me Account was set up to help Vogt’s family in the wake of the wreck.
